THE streets of Sligo pulsed with Irish rhythms and revelry as age-old traditions were celebrated by fresh generations at the Comhaltas Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann All-Ireland Championships 2014. One young Carlow musician who certainly added to the musical atmosphere was Colm Ó Bhruadair (pictured), who won first place in the uileann pipes 12 to 15 years’ category.

Against some very tough competition, Colm suitably impressed the judges at the 63rd Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.

It was an exciting and successful weekend of competitions, concerts, céilithe, sessions and more as the fleadh was celebrated by an estimated 300,000 visitors, including a special visit by President Michael D Higgins.
